I am currently looking for this type of feature, I don't need to process the order now but only want to take pre-orders. We have a new product coming out and will be available in July and we want to get orders rolling in so we can get an idea how many we need to produce.

What we want to be able to do is:

·        Take the order as if it was going to be completed today (including credit card)

·        Hold final process until ship date

·        Send order verification prior to completing the order and shipping product

·        In the email have them click a link that would complete the sale and place the order

To add to the wish list; being able to add an affiliate program into the store like Affiliate Wiz

Here are some things that you might not know about pre-authorized transactions:

1. Pre-authorizations against a valid credit card expires after a defined period
   of time; typically after 30 Days.
    
2. Also, pre-authorizations reduce the card holders available credit for 3-5 Days.
    
3. Finally, in order to convert pre-authorization to a sale you need to keep track of the
   authorization code from pre-authorization; without it the new authorization will
   be treated as a new transaction.

Currently there are only 2 providers, one is Authorize.Net and the other is PayPal.  Once we get into "Release Candidate" versions, I plan to add a "Simple Checkout" that will do what you are asking.
