anyone know why i see no evidence of paging in the store module?

the settings DO allow you to enter the number of rows and columns you want to display.....but there is no way to go to thenext page. so, if i stipulate that i want 10 rows per page, i see my first 10 rows displayed but then there is no way to go to the next 10 pages. also.....if i have 200 products, it appears that the application is marshalling over all 200 hundred products data - the performance is awful as the number of products increases. what it SHOULD do, is only bring over 10 products (or how ever many you stipulated to display per page). that's what gives you scalability. that way, you can have unlimited numbers of products.

since i don't see evidence of paging......i'm HOPING i have something set incorrectly. i'd hate to think it was built where it brings in ALL data for EVERY product each and every time!

yes - i found the setting that now gives me the page numbers like you see.

but......i still see that as the number of products increases, the performance gets worse and worse, which leads me to believe that it is pulling in ALL of the data for ALL of the products before display the first 10 items for page 1.

this is one of those design issues which prevents true scalability. for example, if it is designed so that it first calculates how many pages there will be and THEN it pulls only the first 10 for page 1, then it doesn't matter how many products there are because it is always pulling only 10 items worth of data at a time.

but....if your query pulls ALL of the data for ALL of the items first and THEN displays the first page.......it won't scale past a few hundred items.

Hi,

Please can you advice me how can I add pagination to the new products or featured products? If you can help me how to change it in the source code would be beeter. If you can tell me where should I reffer and advice how to do I can do it my self.

Hi Yma,

Only the category product list can use the pagination. This will require a lot of change to allow pagination with other product lists .
