When I push the "Buy now" button from paypal I get the following error message "The link you have used to enter the PayPal system contains an incorrectly formatted item amount."

Can somebody help me with this? Tanks Ton Hermes

This error happened to me a few days ago after installing a Spanish language pack from Uruguay. When I set the default language to Spanish, it set the locale to Uruguay also. The currency format was affected (used a comma to separate the dollar amount from the cents) and PayPal didn't recognize it.

I fixed it by modifying the Locales.xml file in the App_GlobalResources directory found in the root DNN installation folder. I changed the following:  key="es-UY" to  key="es-PR" on the line where the Spanish language is defined. This changed the locale from Uruguay to Puerto Rico, which uses the US currency format.

No, it does not do the job !
I changed the settings and now I get the message.
This recipient does not accept payments denominated in €. Please contact the seller and ask him to update his payment receiving preferences to accept this currency.
Changing the values you mentioned disable the dutch language aswell.
