Hi Guys

I'm newbie in the DNN world and I thank you all for the wonderfull job you are doing. Sorry for my poor english (I'm French).

I'm trying to create a website with e-commerce functionalities. I will have regular products (like DVDs, ...) but I also want to have a community where people need to subscribe in order to access it. I also want to be able to use Authorize.net (if there is no other way I will go for PayPal but it is not my first choice).

I was thinking of using the 'Subscriber' role but it is not clear for a regular e commerce customer how to use and activate it (and it only offers a PayPal provider). I tried to use the 'Store' module since I am using it for the regular products but I don't see anything that would allow adding a 'subscription' product that would automatically add a user to the 'Subscriber' role.

Any idea on how to do it (even if I have to change some code)? Or maybe a third party module (even if I have to buy it) that would have this functionaility?

Thank you very much for your help and keep up the good work.

Frédéric

Hi Frédéric,

Don't worry about your English, I'm French too. Did you know that you can ask for help in French on www.dotnetnuke.fr? I support the Store module on both forum (US and French).

The Store module do not allow to apply a dnn role when a customer buy a product. In a future version, I will add this kind of features. For this reason, may be the Store module is not the right choice. You can find several other commercial ecommerce module, look at the MarketPlace or on SnowCovered.

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hi Gilles

Thanks for your fast reply.

I will continue in English since I didn't know about dotnetnuke.fr. I thought you were French too when I saw your name in all those posts but I was not sure.

In the mean time, I 'googled' a little and found Catalook could handle this case. Anyone tried it (for subscription)?

Thanks a lot

Hi Frédéric,

I use Catalook for the French newspaper L'Informaticien. The basic idea is to create a specific group with dnn, then restrict access to some pages to this group only. Under Catalook, you create a product with inherit the group. When a user buy a subscription on line, you inherit the corresponding dnn role automatically. Thus, the user is able to access some hidden pages for download the newspaper on PDF. Catallok is a good module, but a little bit hard to use for some users. Because the module cover a lot of cases.
