Hi

For the use of categories it would be useful if a product could be assigned to multiple categories. Is something like that planned?

What about bulk importing products?

I don't want to stress anybody, I just wan't to ask if one or both of those things are on the roadmap. :-)

Thanks

Reto

Hi,

Yes, I plan to allow multiple categories assignment for product. But I can't tell you when this feature will be added.

You can Import / Export Categories only (Sotre Menu module) or Categories AND Products (Store Catalog module) with the standard dnn Import / Export Method. The file must be an XML one. You can create 2 categories with one product inside each one, then use the Export option in the Store Catalog module menu. This will allow you to discover the internal format used. Thus, you will be able to create an XML file with your categories and products by using a XSLT sheet or a tool for transform your data.

Hi Gilles

Thanks for your reply. Exactly what I needed.

One more question: As I see there is no Unique-ID assigned to the Products so when importing, existing data will always be added. No chance to update? (eg, if there's only a change in the price)

Thanks for your help.

Hi Reto,

You'r right There is no Unique-ID assigned, because a catalog can be moved (export then import) to an other portal. Thus, I can use the previous ID. Each ID for categories and products are recreated and assigned while importing data.

If you can control your database with Enterprise Maager or similar database tool, you can create a stored procedure and use it with DTS (Data Transformation Services). The idea is to export updated prices and model numbers from your other database. Then in the stored procedure, open the file, read each lines and do an sql update.
