Hi,

If you talk about products listed in the Category Products section of the Catalog module, they are sorted by modelname, not by date! Are you sure you refer to category list?

Currently it's not possible to modify order by settings. But you can modify stored procedures if you want. The procedure used by Category Products section is Store_Products_GetProducts. Think to save your work before update future version and re-apply your modifications after update.
