Hello everybody,

I have just finished a customized installation of the French store module  (with some changes in both the source and the database) - luckilly, with no usefull data yet…
What is the best way to upgrade to the new store module, taking into account that I am not interesting in keeping my changes.
Should I
a)uninstall the french store module and then install the new store module?
b) should I select the 'remove files' option when selecting to uninstall the French module?  or
c) should I delete the 5 modules (Store Admin, Store Account, …) prior to uninstalling the French store version?

thnx & Best Regards

Hi Akis,

It depends if you have categories and products inside WWStore. If yes and you want preserve it, you can first install Store 02.01.00, then apply the migration kit available at www.dotnetnuke.fr. An other option is to export your data form the export menu in the WWStore StoreFront module. then edit your xml file and replace every WWStore occurence by Store. After install Store module, import the file from the import menu in the Store Catalog module. Note that the StoreFront module is renamed Catalog under Store module).

If you don't care about categories and products, uninstall the five sub modules of WWStore (WWStore Account, WWStore Admin, WWStore Menu, WWStore Mini Cart, WWStore StoreFront), check "Delete files" only for the last one.

Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

HI Gilles,

long time no see.

While working on another project, I have been left out of date concerning the store module updates.

First of all, I am glad to see that you have unified the store module and that you keep on supporting it with your valuable advices. Congratulations to the whole team!

Akis and i are working on an e-store dnn site, but i had problems creating a new post thread, so Akis posted it instead of me.

Now, back to the question.

Yes, we don't care about categories and products. The problem is that we have added some custom changes (both on code and database) but we are willing to roll back to your Store module version, in order to be synchronized with your latest updates.

So, why do we need to delete the files only for the last WWStore StoreFront module and not for all WWStore modules? Will our custom database changes be removed from the uninstall sql script)? Are we free then to install the new Store module version without any conflicts or problems?

best regards,

Dimitris

Hi Dimitris,

I'm glad to "see" you again.

You have to delete files only on the last module because a little bug in dnn. Sometimes you receive an error if you do it on all modules. Moreover, sometimes again, the folder WWStore is not deleted. This will be corrected in a future dnn version.

If your custom changes inside the database are on the "standard" tables (WWStore_xxxx), then they will be deleted too. Because the uninstall script use sql delete table statements. If you added table(s), then you must clear them "by hand". Use a sql delete statement directly in Host > SQL or with a database tool like Enterprise Manager. I tested WWStore and Store side by side on all dnn versions from 4.1.0 to 4.7.0 whitout conflict.

Hi Gilles,

since the WWStore and Store can be installed and work side by side, i think that the best way to handle the specific situation is to just hide the pages that contain the WWStore modules from the users, install the Store, create new pages and insert the Store modules in order to start working with the Store.

In a later DNN version that the minor bug you mention gets fixed (how can i check it?), i will completely delete the WWStore modules.

regards,

Dimitris
