I have installed the latest version of the Store module and attempted to setup up a store. Everything goes fine until I try to got to PayPal to checkout. This is the error I get:
           Email: Please enter a valid email address. UTF-8 email addresses are not currently supported. Emails must be in the format: username@domain.com

The PayPal account has Language Encoding set to ISO-8859-1
The store administration is setup with Charset: ISO-8859-1
The Globalization in the web.config is setup as:
        <globalization culture="en-US" uiCulture="en" fileEncoding="ISO-8859-1" requestEncoding="ISO-8859-1" responseEncoding="ISO-8859-1"/>

I have even modified all the store files wherever there was a UTF-8 I replaced it with ISO-8859-1. I have stopped and restarted the website. Nothing has worked, I continue to get the error. (I had the same problem trying to use the WWStore module. I have another site that is using it and it works fine, but with this second site nothing I've tried works.)

Any suggestions on what I should try next? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Lois,

Do you receive this error mesage on the PayPal side? Do you have any special characters inside the email address?

Gilles

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

No, no special characters. In order to eliminate the PayPal account as being part of the problem, I've even setup the site the does NOT work to use the same PayPal account as the site that does work. (Gilles, the site that is working is the one that you helped me with before.) I've tried everything I can think of with this new site to no avail.

Gilles, I forot to answer you're first question. Yes,the error message comes up on the PayPal side. And I just found the solution! After looking at the source code for the store module, I looked at the page source for the confirmation page for the site that worked and the site that didn't work, looking particularly at the hidden fields that are added to the form. What I noticed was that for the site that didn't work, I was logged in as host and had never updated the host's email address. Once I fixed that, everything worked. I had assumed that the compaint was about the business's email, but it was the customer's email!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Lois,

I'm glad to see that you found the solution! I would not have thought of the email address.
