Great work on the first version of the Store module! After installing and playing with the Store module on DNN 4.0.2 it would be nice to see some of the following features in an upcoming version of the module. It's likely that these are already on an future enhancement list somewhere but I thought I would list them anyways:

  • Ability to associate multiple images with a single product but only have the first one show in the product overview page.
  • Ability to select an image by viewing the thumbnail instead of using the select file dropdown list.
  • Ability to associate a product to multiple categories.
  • Ability to define custom product attributes when adding a new product (size, weight, colour, unit of measure, etc...)
  • Ability to specify a Regular Price and a Sale Price.
  • Bulk upload of products, categories and product to category mappings.

It would also be beneficial to have a whitepaper that discusses creating new Payment Providers for the Store module.

Keep up the good work. I think this module is a great starting point and with some additional modifications can become a very powerful and useful module for many!

Thanks for the positive and encouraging words.  Yes, most of the items you listed are on the roadmap we are currently putting together.  I will review the other items with out team to see where they would fit in.  Once the roadmap is complete, we will post it for all to see.

Also, we are working on documentation and even some videos.  We hope to have them available soon.

Best Regards,

I figured that would be the case. Again, great work everyone! I'll be looking forward to the documentation and videos!

Another feature request is product subcategories. Many product lines can't be organized into a simple, flat category list.

Hi Jon,

I haven't tried it yet, but as a work around I think you should be able to add multiple pages and subpages to your website and then embed the Store Catalog module on each page and configure it to display a specific category. This should give you the hierarchical catalog with subcategories that you are looking for. The only thing is when you use the Store Admin module to manage the categories, it would still appear as a flat category structure.

I agree though, it would be nice to be able to define hierarchical categories. It would make managing large amounts of products much easier.

Cheers!
