Hi,

I have just started to look at the store module.
I installed a 'catalog' module but i got the following error message:

A critical error has occurred.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this error, and how i can solve the problem?
Thank you,
Matt.

Hi Matt,

This seems to be a problem inside the web.config file. I need some details:

1) Which version of the module do you use, Store 01.00.01 or WWStore 02..00.08?

2) Which version of SQL Server do use REALY use 2000, 2005 or 2005 Express?

3) Did you set the two sections (connectionStrings AND appSettings) with the parameters of your SQL Server?

Gilles

Hey Gilles,

Thanks for the reply.
I am using Store module 01.00.01
As for the other 2 questions, i honestly dont know.
I have asked my hosting company to have a look at the problem, but as of yet they havn't got back to me.
I am still getting to grips with DNN, and i don't know much about the SQL side of things. I'm still on that steep learning curve!
Can i look in the web.config file to find the answers?

Hi,

I have just looked in the web.config and is the following text any use?

connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->
    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=IHOSTLLC15;Database=NUTONIKMUSIC_6YPL;uid=userid;pwd=userpassword;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
  </connectionStrings>

Cheers,
Matt.

Hi,

DO NOT PLACE HERE your config string WITH ACCOUNT AND PASSWORD !!!  Please edit your post and remove userid and password. Ask your host to change them now!

Yes, it's the first line. Just below you woul find a line like this:

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=IHOSTLLC15;Database=NUTONIKMUSIC_6YPL;uid=YOURUSERID;pwd=YOURPASSWORD;"/>
