In 7.3 release notes it mentions Folder Provider improvements, "Ability to create new sites with the site root Folder on remote storage – separating user data from application data."

The first question I have is, Is there any documentation on how to do something like this for a new install of DNN 7.3?

Are there any folder providers included in the Core Platform to achieve this or do we need to use a 3rd party Folder provider like, Evotiva Folder Provider or Mandeeps Folder Provider?

I think Sebastian misunderstood the first question, as his answer is not complete. The changes referred to in the release notes are that we (AFAIR) extended portal templates so that they could specify where the portal is created i.e. prior to 7.3.0 all portals had a folder created in the portals folder along with a number of files - after adding a portal the admin could then add cloud based folders which is normally enough as you are usually only worried about user files. The change to the template allows a site to ensure that all portal files are created in a cloud environment.

As to the 2nd part of the question, Sebastian is correct - the azure/amazon providers are in Evoq content -but you can use 3rd party ones such as Evotiva or Mandeeps (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/...)

no, being able to specify where portal folders are on create is a platform feature. However no cloud based folder providers ship with DNN platform, whereas a few such as azure and aws do with Evoq so if you want to use that you will have to build one or use one of the 3rd party ones (presently today most people install one, add a portal and then set key folders such as users to be a cloud folder - this enhancement allows all folders to be cloud folders)
