I have noticed the following two things related to the DNN Schedule:

  1. DNN Scheduled tasks/jobs don't appear to run until you refresh the page when you are logged in as host. For example, say a scheduled task is set to run at 2:56 PM and I don't refresh the page until 3:05 PM, the task doesn't appear to run until 3:05 PM.
  2. Similarly, if a task is scheduled to run at 2:56 PM and I am not logged in as a host at this time, the task doesn't appear to run until I log back into the site as host.
Is it possible to avoid any of the problems I mentioned above? This problem seems quite silly but I'm not sure how to work my way around it.

What is your scheduler mode set to? Host Settings - Other Settings

It is set to request method. Is that the problem - should it be set to timer method?

Request Method for the scheduler means the scheduled items check if they should run when there are HTTP requests (visits) to the site.

So, if your task is scheduled to run at 3 PM but nobody visits your site until 11 PM, that's when it would run.

If your site receives a lot of regular visits, you should be able to use Request Method. Otherwise, Timer would be the way to go as long as the application pool hasn't unloaded.
