To fix a module that does not work with DNN 5.5 I need to redirect URLs like http://www.buffalodiocese.org/News/LatestNews/ItemId/94.aspx to this format http://www.buffalodiocese.org/News/LatestNews/ctl/Detail/mid/1882/itemid/576.aspx

Granted the Itemid would always be different but the rest would be the same. Can I do this in Friendly URLs?  I already installed URL Master and that fixed one issue (next/previous links on the news page) but not this issue. This bad URL comes up when I do a search and then click on any news article.

in your module, are you using navigateURL or EditUrl to create the target urls?

This is not my module. It is Advanced Articles. It broke with the 5.5 upgrade to DNN. Its been 2 months and they are not responding to my request for a fix so I am trying to find a work around since I have this module on 20+ sites. URL Master fixed 1/2 the problem. Now I need to find a way to fix the search results links. I was hoping a rewrite in the friendly URLs section would fix the issue.

Wow, I'm glad you posted this - we've got one particular project (and we use Ventrian News Article) - and on one site only, it's driving us crazy that the 'read latest news' link.  We have tried to turn caching off and on, stripped out every bit of code in the skin, changed templates and yet we still get this intermittent issue with the address showing 'ctl' and the skin losing all the formatting.  We tried changing skins too but it seems that for some reason, randomly it would appear (or maybe it is on only one particular article link) that it shows up as if we're in 'edit mode'.

I spoke to someone about this who first said - I must have  a module on the page that is in 'edit mode' for the public to access but that is certainly not the case, apart from the fact we checked that, we've been working with DNN for 7 years now - and we know what edit mode is and it's only when you click the link on the 'read more' article on some of the articles, not everyone.

We are not using any url rewriter at all, just DNN and it was in an earlier version of DNN which we then thought we'd try and upgrade the site to see if it fixed it but it has not.

So I can confirm too that there is some odd behaviour with the articles module we're using to on DNN. Maybe the methods used in doing the 'read more' link need looking at.

Any ideas on how to rewrite http://www.buffalodiocese.org/News/LatestNews/ItemId/94.aspx to this format - http://www.buffalodiocese.org/News/LatestNews/ctl/Detail/mid/1882/itemid/576.aspx Any resources out there on how to do this? I have not had much luck on how to do this. Thanks!
