OK, Here's the issue. I have a remote installation of DNN 5 (hosted), and I have duplicated the setup as much as possible on my LAN. Even the database has been duplicated as far as username, password, etc., (although the address in the connection string is different, as is the actual portal address and aliases). Both are new installations, and both contain the same initial admin users and credentials.

Now, with that being said, I would like to make all my initial configurations locally, and then move them to the remote site. Then I would like to create my pages and do the same to them. My question is, can this be done, and is it a straight forward copying operation and which folders do I need to copy? Would it be better (in the case of the initial configurations which include installing several extension modules; YAF, Gallery, etc.), to make all the changes locally and then upload the entire site with a DB backup? And would it be better to export the pages locally and then import them to the remote site?

It is very important that I find this out, because of the extremely slow performance of my remote site (mentioned elsewhere on this forum), which I have not been able to resolve, so until I do, I would like to build locally as much as possible to cut down my frustration and build time. Thank you for any assistance.

There are a number of options here. Using the IMPORT/EXPORT functionality for pages and modules is possible, assuming you are using MODULES that support IPortable, meaning they have Import/Export options in their Actions menu.

You could also look at our DotNetNuke Enterprise product which has staging/deployment functionality.
