I have a number of people within my organisation who insist on having host access to our DNN portal, despite my repeated claims that it is not necessary.
Anyway it would appear that I am fighting a losing battle.
So my next step is to try and remove the access to a few of the options available within the host menu, namely
- Host Settings
- Portals
- Module Definitions
- File Manager
- SQL
- Languages
- Host Accounts
While I recognise that this more or less makes the host account pretty redundant, I would like to know if this is possible.
I did follow one tip I found on the web and that was to go the the SQL page, copy the tab id. Then go to another page, click on the page settings and then amend the URL to use the SQL tab id. This then presented me with the page settings for the SQL page. Unfortunately though, the administrators access is disabled and therefore cannot be managed. I was going to add the individual host accounts who would be allowed access under the username.
I believe that this is fairly simple in version 5 onwards, but we are running v4.9.3 and we are NOT in a position where an upgrade is feesible.
Any help would be really appreciated.
