In one of my installations I have a "problem" I dont understand.

IN web config I have web farmsuport  value false and it has always been false. However in host settings the value  "IS web farm" is checked but shadowed so I cant change it. There is also two post in the servers table.

I noticed this when changing the sheduler and found two wales there. (it seems also that the history isnt purged but this I have not confirmed yet)

The post in servers table was added when I installed 5.1.0 (upgraded from 4.9.4) . Now the site is 5.1.1

As I dont use a web farm I tryed wo delete one of the servers in the table, and as aspected the checking in host settings was gone.

But... when I restart the application a new record is added and it tells me that I am running a web farm again.

It would be nice to know why this happen and what to do?

Thanks in advance

Jan

Found the same in an other site that was upgraded. All clean 5.1.1. sites just one post in web servers table.

Is this a bug or  its normal behavior?

I found this enhancement in Gemini regading web gardens.

http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=9613&PROJID=2

However my IIS 7 is just using one and only one worker process.

If I put the field enabled to false for one of the server id  will it be not be a webfarm any more.

Just me that has this behavior?

This is on the CE version by the way.

Just me ?

To confirm the issue I installed a new clean 4.9.4 upgraded to 5.1.1 Everything ok no webfarm.

Then I added a new potrtal asigned it in IIS whith new host heading eg test.site.com. Started the new portal and now a new post is added to the WebServers table. This results in that in the host settings the Is web farm is checked and in Dashboard - Host showing that web farm is enabled. Furthermore in Sheduler I got more then one server when I edit a shedule.

Apart from  the sheduler all portals work fine but I asume something is wrong in here.

This behavior occures in a few scenarious.

Develope a site and use VS and then move the site to a web server. Now you have two records in the WebServers table one with IISAPPName blank an one with the app name.

If you move a site from one server to an other you get a new record in the table.

If you for some reason take the site offline and then add it again to IIS and get a new application id.

If you for some odd reason starts two websites to the same DNN directory - not supported.

But in the real world a lot of sites will be moved and will come up with this error.

Added it as a major bug in Gemini
