I realize this is a rather newbie question, but I cannot figure out how to resize a module. I have a links module that autosizes based on the content within the module, however I need the size of the module to occupy more space than it currently is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is a great question. Mod -- I'd really like to know the answer. Does anyone know how to do this?

it depends on the skin and container applied, whether a module occupies the width needed or full space.

As a workaround, you may enter "< img src= "/spacer.gif" width="400px" height="1px" alt="" /> in head section of the module (see Settings :: Advanced settings)

Thanks for the reply Sebastian.

Do you have any further insight regarding your first sentence. I tried editing Links.ascx so that the module was set to 100% width but to no avail. Also, your latter suggestion is not really what I am looking for since that has  no effect on the width of the body of the module. Thanks again for your help.

Adding the image in the header section of the Module->Settings->Advanced certainly will effect the width of the module.  Try it.  You can also use html in the title and it is rendered properly, so you could add a spacer image there as well after the title text.  Third option is to go to module settings page again and enter a div tag in the header with a width set with inline style and place the closing tag in the footer section there, I've done that and it's worked well before, too.  If it didn't work for you, you didn't implement it right or didn't bother trying it.

I would not recommend editing or modifying the core code unless you keep careful and detailed log of everything you have changed.  If not, when you upgrade you run the risk of losing all those modifications and having to figure them out from scratch all over again.  Actually, I'd never edit the core code simply because you could run into conflicts you might be unaware of and because it would create a huge hassle when upgrading DNN.  Best to avoid any solution with core code modifications unless they are modifications that are going to be included in the next upgrade such as a bug fix.
