Folks,

Since my DNN5.0.1 -> DNN5.1 upgrade (at least I think that's all that has changed), the admin role is no longer able to assign roles to users or create new ones.  The host retains this ability.  What happened?  How do I get these rights back to admin?

Thanks!

I've got the same problem.  I just upgraded from 4.9.x to 5.1 and now ALL my portal admin accounts can no longer manage roles for users.  The module displays in the title: "Access Denied" and the text in the Manage Roles module displays "Either you are not logged in, or you do not have access to this content."

The user this message displays for is in the Administrators role and is obviously logged in.

This appears to be a new bug.  Now, only the Superuser account can load the Manage Roles module.

Yes, that's the exact condition I see.  Since posting this, I have done the same upgrade from DNN5.0.1 -> DNN5.1 on localhost with the same modules installed and I can't reproduce this locally.  However, I'm not using the production DB where I see this.

DNN gurus, where should I look, next?  I pored over the user and role tables and I can't find anything substantially different between my localhost admin accounts and those on my production site.

you need to login as the 'host' account, and then navigate to Admin > Security Roles, select the 'Module Settings' for the security roles module, and then click 'update'. You'll want to also repeat these steps on the Admin > User Accounts module... Then login as an admin and you should be back to normal...

Yowza, that fixed it!  I knew I needed a DNN guru for this.  Thanks Oliver!
