I am trying to install the DotNetNuke_4.3.7_Install.zip onto Windows 2003, ASPNET 2.0.

I am getting this error when I run it from browse in the manage snap-in.

Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

This is because the directory is not setup as a virtual directory and you are trying to access the site just using the virtual directory. To fix this do the following.

1) Open IIS.

2) Right click on folder and choose properties.

3) Click on the home directory tab.

4) Click the Add Application button (Lower section of the screen).  Button might have another name, I am doing this by memory so I apologize if the button name is not correct.

5) After clicking the button the application name will be set to a default values, most of the time default web site.  I'd rename this so the application is the same name as the directory.

6) Also, if you have a separate AppPool you want the DNN site to run under, make sure you set the App Pool setting to the correct AppPool.

You site is now setup as an application and you should not get the error above any more.
