Hello,

How can I install DotNetNuke with a Microsoft Access database or a MySQL database? A Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 database is very expensive. And I just want to test the DotNetNuke system, te learn to work with it. When i'm ready with testing I thing I will take a Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 database, but first..

Can someone help me?

Already thanks.

you can use DotnetNuke with free MSDE or SQL Server Express. SQL Server Express Advanced comes with admin interface and limitations (max 4 GB database size, max 1GB RAM used and max 1 processor) are not relevant for most small and medium portals.

The problem is that I can't get Microsoft SQL express on the server now. Is there no way to use Microsoft Access or MySQL?

Like Sebastion said, you can test DotNetNuke with SQL 2005 Express for free.

If you don't know how to install the database you can check out the installer that has just been released to setup DotNetNuke on your local system.

The installer will detect if SQL Server is installed on your system, otherwise it will download and install it for you.

You can download it here.

AFAIK there is a commercial MYSQL provider at snowcovered, but I would not go this way, as you need a database provider for each module you use (some default modules might be included).
