So I have installed DNN on a new VPC and haven't had any problems standing it up.

Then I try and stand it up using the exact same procedure on my laptop.  Installation goes without issue and the Home page comes up.  When I try to log in, however, I do not get an error but am redirected back to the Home page without being logged in (i.e.; links still say "Register | Login").

I Google this issues and try all of the suggestions that fixed similarly reported problems, such as making sure site (localhost in this case, as well MachineName and 127.0.0.1) is marked as a Trusted site and allowing cookies from this site.   However nothing is working.

What is strange (at least to me) is that I check the box that says "Remember Login", but it never remembers me.  So its as if Cookies are not behaving well for this site (other sites such as www.DotNetNuke.com are fine with respect to cookies).

Has anybody seen this problem or any ideas how I might diagnos/solve this issue as I really want to use my laptop for development rather than a VPC image.  I have already spent a good 5 hours trying to figure it out.

Check cookies are enabled and javascript is enabled.
It sounds like firewall and privacy settings, if you are using something like ZoneAlarm try completely disabling the privacy/ad blocking/cookie control.
