Greetings,

We upgraded to DNN V 4.5.3 today from 4.4 and have been experiencing major issues with authentication using Active Directory. If we modify the Web.Config file to use forms authentication the site loads fine.

However, if we use Windows authentication in the web.config it seems like the default page is stuck in a loop and never actually loads. In the status bar you see that it's constantly trying to reload the page.

We have verified this in three different installations that are upgrading from V4.4

Please help, this is crippling 2 of our environments.

Thanks,

Robert

If you run under forms and uncomment <identity impersonate=true /> does that solve your problem?

No, Identity Impersonate was already set to true...

We had to replace some Dlls from the older version of DNN (Ver. 4.4)

Here is the list of Dlls: (given below)

DNNMaster.UserSwitch.dll

DotNetnuke.Authentication.ADSI.dll

DotNetNUke.Authentication.ADSIProvider.dll

DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication.dll

DotNetNuke.HttpModules.DNNmemebership.dll

DotNetnuke.HttpModule.UrlRewrite.dll

We duplicate this issue with three different DNN installations (on 4 different machines (servers and desktops)) and are not able to use the above DLLs form Ver. 4.5.3

I haven't had a chance to test 4.5.3 yet as my test system is down but have you tried <impersonate identity="true" userName="domain\username" password="password"/> using forms? That's how I've had DNN setup since 4.3.5 on our intranet site. I'm just suggesting this until I can get my test system back up an running and can try to get some testing in.

Thank you rDilio !

I had the same problem on 4.5.1 and 4.5.3 instances.  Following the advice on the DLLs you mentioned solved my problem as well.

Not ideal in the long term - but for now - a life saver
