  1. change of default password has NO effect on upgrades.
  2. when doing an upgrade, make sure you preserve the 2 encrytion keys from previous web.config, otherwise the encrypted stored passwords will no longer match the entered passwords.

Hi Guys,

The only solution was to register as a new user, and then look into the users table in the database, and change the superuser flag to true, for that user. Then when I did log in as that user I could go into both superuser and admin accounts and do the following :

For each user account that you were locked out of, first click the link to "reset password", then you are free to change the password again. This worked for me... hope it helps.

Cheers,
TrevDog.

Thanks TrevDog-
This worked well.
I created tempadmin, and then changed in my DB the field for SuperUser from False to True.  Then I just used the web interface to Force Reset of passwords on my users.

Question:  What does that "Force Reset" do?  Could you perhaps quickly do the same thing in the DB somewhere?  I only have 10 users- it was no big deal for me.  But I'm sure there are people who would love to be able to get their sites running that have a LOT of users.

I am glad to hear it helped ... I had tried to only change the password, but it seems to me that resetting the password must null the value in the DB for the password first, allowing a change to then be made. I am guessing here, but that was my thinking.

One of the Core DNN'ers will be able to tell you I am sure .

Cheers,
TrevDog.
