Hi,

I have other modules which allow functionality based on security roles for example the ability to mail security roles, set permissions, etc,The additional of social groups and especially with users now being able to create their own groups extends this ability.

However, a lot of modules do not recognise Social Groups, no problem - just go to Security Roles page, edit the Group Security Mode and off you go... but that takes the ease of use away from the user. Creating the group and using the group features is great, but usually only admins can access the security roles page and even if the user can access the page, its another 5 or 6 steps just to enable the mode of the Role.

I know when creating the Social Group it is currently not an option to select the Security Mode for the group, so is there any other way to automatically change the Security Mode. I know I could use an SQL Agent task but direct data access means having to restart the app pool.

I don't think there is any way to automate this currently, but I would recommend you create this as a feature request http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Community-Voice.aspx
