I have a couple of questions about using the Rad Editor as my default editor under DNN 6 with Active Forums.

1) How do I make a more user friendly toolbar that strips out the functionality that I won't want to expose to the average forum user while at the same time keeping the more robust toolbar available to admin users in other modules.

I see that the toolbar can be easily adjusted in the HTML editor setting in the host menu, however, I can't find any documentation on how to edit the toolbar for a specific module.

 2) How can I make it so that an average user can easily insert an image into their post by simply supplying the image URL?

For example, the "Active Editor' that was available in Active Forum 4.0, had a "Insert Image" button that simply asked the user for a URL then would insert the proper HTML into the editor.   The toolbar here in these forums, has similar button, but it links to the image manager which is not useful for non admin users.

IMO, the average user being able to easily insert image is an absolute must for a forum system.   I run a hobby based site, and people are constantly posting threads with pictures of what they have, are working on, etc.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

 Thanks!

Well, this turns out to be a total non-issue with the RadEditor provider.

1) Creating a custom toolbar for a module or role is super easy, it's just not entirely intuitive at first. All you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of the "Default Configuration" and click the "Copy" button. It then prompts you to create a new configuration file for whatever roles/modules you want...

2) The rad editor provider configuration page provides ways that you can tap into the provider with your own script. However, It turns out that the exact functionality I was looking for already exists. All I had to do was add a new tool to the toolbar called "InsertImage".

Now that I understand how it works, I think it's pretty slick.
