I'm Back!
I was asked if I could do this, and after looking through it, I believe there is no current way, but I thought I would ask :-)

lets say I run a Intranet for a small hospital. Some of the departments run their own calender. On the calendar they put people's schedule which is not public, so the calendar is not. But sometimes they put an individual on that is on call that needs to be seen by everyone so they know who to call.

1) Is there a way to allow only certain catagories visable?
2) or is there a way to make a calendar that is linked to other calendar catagories. So if I make a catagory "On Call" other calendars can read it.

Thanks!

I see 5.2 is out - will give it a shot!

At the moment you can set a master calendar to display a single category from other calendars by selecting the appropriate option in the module settings. You can also turn off the enforcement of module permissions from sub-calendars. A theoretical model is as follows:-
  • Department A has calendar which is on a page which is only visible by staff in the department
  • They add events with category On Call to that module
  • Department B has the same set up.
  • On a page you set-up a calendar which everyone can see, but you want it to only show On-Call events
    • Add Department A & B calendar to On-Call calendar
    • Set Filter Events by Category to 'On-Call' in General Settings
    • Untick Enable Category Select in Look & Feel Settings
    • Untick Enforce View Permissions in Sub-Calendar Settings
Only On-Call events will then show in the On-Call calendar

Cheers
Roger

Ok,... lol
how do I "Add Department A & B calendar to On-Call calendar"?
I looked through all the settings, and couldn't find anything. Do you mean allow them the ability to edit?

Sub-calendar settings. Tick Include Other Site Event Modules, then move from Available to Assigned in your On-Call calendar....
