Hello

I am having some difficulty creating a child portal on a live site.

I completed the text boxes and clicked create, but I hadn't changed the default to child and the site crashed. I was afraid that this might create problems with my site so in my panic I tried to delete the new portal but I was left with an unnamed extra edit/pencil on the >>host >>portals page.  Back into the site, this time upon create portal, (child enabled) I was taken to a new page a DNN default page which was full of errors all over the page unable to load page etc.,

I deleted the child portal (I think) and tried again, but I was informed that this name already exists.

I went into the database but was not allowed to delete all of the records related to the new portal.  I havn't deleted the extra folders as I am not a programmer and I am afraid of breaking something else and making it worse.

How do I get rid of all references of the of the previous damaged child portals so that I can start afresh without causing extra problems to my site.  I am now prevented from creating a child portal, how do I undo this mess?

Also could anybody guide me to a tutorial on creating child portals, so that I can be sure that I am doing it correctly

BTW I don't know if this makes a difference, my default.aspx file is edited to be xhtml complient in order to use a css based skin and containers on my parent portal.

Thanks

Laura.
