i notice an odd thing about the store's registration procedure.....

when a customer hits "register" they are taken to a screen that prompts for a username and password and display name

now....lets say the customer logs out after registering. the next time they log in, they are immediately taken to a screen requiring them to enter their address. and that's how it should work.

but the majority of the time, the user will continue on and shop and buy something. at that point it will say they need to edit the address (which is blank) and when they click on "edit" it doesn't take them directly to the screen for adding the address info - instead it takes them to an intermediate screen and they have to know to somehow click on "edit profile"

James, the reason is that we cannot access the user profile details without passing by the page where they are required 'edit profile'. This is how it works in the core, there is no way that I can see to bypass this because the profile detail page does not have its own url, rather it comes after a postback. I'm not sure if this has been designed that way in the core for some security reason? A workaround would beto make all needed information required in the profile (adress, etc), so when the user registers you make sure that they fill all necessary info, and they don't have to come back again later at checkout.

i have the address fields marked as "required"

and yet, when a new user registers, those fields don't show up - only the username and password fields.

Interesting I got the same problem

I did not realize it is so complicated for the customer until very late into our testing.  This is a major drawback since a normal customer will not be able to understand how to update their data. Maybee they could use the function 'shipping address'  but I am afraid the no customers will be able to shop due to this problem.

I started this thread http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...   regarding this and got one tip, sadly it did not help. It is very strange because one of our employees (who is on vacation now) managed to ad extra fields to the register page on one of our other servers. When I look at the settings on this server it seems like he only marked them as required - as both you and me already tested without success.

Hi,
you are on wrong place in thread mentioned above, kossamu. Go to Admin -> User Accounts -> Manage Profile Properties and set your requirements there. Next click on User Settings link and set required combination of Require a valid Profile for Registration and Require a valid Profile for Login settings.

This is known and old problem with Default Address Provider. The Edit Registration Address link on Store Account page does not work as expected.
