In the U.S., a comma is only used for the format LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, but never for FIRSTNAME LASTNAME.  So I think it would be bothersome to nearly all U.S. based users.

I realize that behind the scenes you need the comma.  Why not just add the comma in the VB codebehind, as required, rather than store it on the UI component?

Alternately, could you display the name as LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME?

Hi Michael,

The first versions (1.0 and 1.1) of the Store module was created by an American team and the Address form was not designed by me! ;-) In other words, it's NOT my choice to use FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME. Moreover, I NEED the comma in the interface to be able to separate first name and last name in the codebehind. IMHO, it would have been more appropriate to create two fields (first name and last name). If I decide to change the address form, it would require several weeks prior to being able to submit the module in the release tracker.

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Gilles,

Thanks for the update.  I don't think it's a huge issue, but if it could be easily fixed it would be great.

On the other hand, I would not want to delay more important features.

Gilles,

I have to agree that RC .28 is a major improvement.

I also suggext that the comma after First Name whenever possible be removed.  It really should be removed in all emails.

I know it is too late for the next release but I would also suggest that when a order status is changed that a comment be allowed and sent to the customer.  This would allow for specific information to be communicated as well as tracking numbers for dispatched orders.

Thanks!

Mark Davis
