Hi Hans,

The product summary was added to the alt attribut of the img tag and to the tooltip attribut of the anchor tag because XHTML compliancy require an alt attibut to each img tag. Finaly, it's probably not a so "good" idea. I will replace both attributes by resource text in the next version.

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hi Gilles,
with SEO feature checked is this same information contained on the page four times :-) In the worst case the alt attribute can be defined as empty string.

Hi Jan;

It's true on the product detail page. In the next version the alt attribut will be replaced by 'Product Image' and the tooltip atribut by 'More Info'. Using the DNN standard Language Editor, any one will be able to modify those strings. May be I could add a 'Alternate Text' field to the product form in a future version to define the alt attribut by product. What do you think about that?

Hi Gilles,
I don’t know what you mean with ‘Product Image’. Am I something missing? I am not sure if we need the ‘More Info’ in the tooltip text (Do you mean the title attribute of A element?) What should be the content?
Next, I don’t like the idea with a new Alternate Text field too. I solved this small problem by deleting title attribute from A element and redefining the image’s Alt attribute as “Manufacturer” plus “Model Name”. It seems logically and works fine for me. Sometimes less represents more :-)

Hi Jan,

What? My English is so bad that you do not understand me? ;-)

More seriously, I will try to explain why I have modified this in the next version. Normaly the alt (alternate) attribut should be used to descibe an image (not his content!) when the brower can't load or display images (like a screen reader for blind people). Now the image alt attribut will be defined by the ressource ImageAlt.Text with the default text "Product Image". Thus, if product image cannot be displayed the text will be used. As usual, you can change the text using the DNN standard Language Editor. In addition, the text can be translated! ;-) When images are only decoratives like corners and sides for a box, an empty alt attribut should be used to avoid "strange" speech results. I was wrong to fill it the product summary.

When the product detail page is displayed, if we want to descibe the content of the product image, we should use the title attribut. Now the image title attribut will be defined by the ressource ImageTitle.Text with the default text "[PRODUCTSUMMARY]". Because it's a title, it was logical to allow any text and the same tokens used for the meta title ([PAGETITLE], [STORETITLE], [MANUFACTURER], [MODELNUMBER], [MODELNAME], [PRODUCTTITLE] and [PRODUCTSUMMARY]). However, when the product is displayed in list, then the title attribut of the anchor element override the image title. The resource LinkDetail.Text is now used to define the anchor title attribut with the default text "More info" and the same tokens as the image title can be used.

This way anyone can define the behavior of the image product! ;-)

Gilles
