I have an issue with a current client that has setup their windows temp directory on another drive (not sure if it's physical or virtual). DNN seems to have trouble with the setup. Sometimes an exception occurs showing that it's attempting to access various .dll files in the F:\Temp directory.

When does DNN ever use Temp space? Is this normal? If so, is moving it from C:\Windows\Temp to another location going to cause an issue?

The only time that temporary space should be used is the pre-compilation that ASP.NET does, but that is to the temporary ASP.NET files, not to the main temp directory.

I am not aware of any need to work with the temp directory.

Do you have some sort of web service running? If so, these temp files (xxxx.dll)  are generated by the web service’s xml serialization in the Windows\Temp directory.

No web services are running (to my knowledge). If someone moved the temp area to another folder in Winodws 2003 server, would you think an issue would arise?

I had the network admin re-start IIS, and everything started working again. I can now access controls that were previously not functioning. No temp space issues.

What does this say?
