Hi
Since upgrading to dnn 5.1.4 I've noticed that every time I go to the page settings screen for any new page I'm creating, I get a pop up IE error stating that a script on the page is causing IE to run slowly, would I like to end the script. Clicking yes usually takes care of it but it takes another minute or so to un-freeze IE. I am running IE 7. Any ideas how to avoid this?
Thanks
Mike

its been about a month since I first reported this and it continues to drive me crazy. It consistently generates this offending script every time I choose a new 'parent' for the current page or if I choose 'copy to descendants' when adding a skin to a page. There may be other actions that cause this as well. I tried both ie and firefox and it occurs in both. I'm going through a bunch of pages right now and having to wait 3 minutes for this script to clear each time is a real aggrivation. I'm not seeing anywhere to find what this script actually is or I'd include it. Any clues as to solve or work around this issue would be a great help.
Thanks
Mike

btw, this forum (the tool, not the people   )  is also driving me crazy, always dropping my posts. Sorry, I'm a big complainer today :)

Well, despite not getting any responses on this one I thought others might benifit from the resolution should they run into the same issue. Our site uses EasyAD to import all our active directory roles and there are a couple hundred of them displayed by default on every settings page. Not only did these cause the page to lag on opening, but they were also the cause of the script error. Simply changing the security group displayed to another with only native dnn roles (and fewer of them) allowed changes to be made to the settings without generating the error. Hope it helps somone. Thanks a lot for sniffing this out Mike.  We have exactly the same situation.  Users are getting really frustrated.

I am going to try your solution but I am not remembering any settings in EasyAD that let me change the default AD group display.

If you get a change please let me know how you did that.

OK I think I figured out what you meant Mike.  I simply created a new Role Group called "Active Directory Roles" and used SQL to move all of my Active Directory groups into that Role Group.  As a result I am NOT receiving the time out error any more.  I can only hope that this Role Group change won't confuse EasyAD.  Time will tell.

However there still is a noticeable lag when I change the Parent Page.  This is happening because DNN goes out and retrieves a list of all the sibling pages for the "Insert After, Before" feature. Because I have a lot of pages this happens slowly.

Here is will I'll make a polite complaint to the DNN Core Team - DotNetNuke needs to be optimized in consideration for larger sites.  Given the evolution focus and I am guessing testing has focused on smaller sites.  As a result us developers with larger sites are noticing issues with timeouts and slow responses on certain features.  Further some of the tools are simply unwieldy.  For example Admin Pages and finding pages from the Editor.
