Events 5.02
I have just noticed that there is a 100 character limit for any custom Detail URL.
Can I just point out that this means that its not possible to link to some content in modules such as News articles.
EG  http://www.royal-southern.co.uk/Ashore/Ashore/tabid/274/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/260/Christmas-Fayre.aspx

I know this will be less on a dnn5 site and I understand the reasons for limiting text string length but this has just become a show stopper for me.
Is there a way to increase this value please.

BTW: I find this version a great improvement but am dismayed that we are still limited to web-safe category colours. Its 2009 not 89.
I would really like to understand why this is so and if its going t be "fixed".
</rant>

I will just close by saying there is a lot to like and I am not being critical - its just really frustrating.

Hi Ian,

I think you can workaround the url issue by editing the Events and EventsRecurMaster table structure to make it longer. From recollection, I think you would also need to change the EventsSave stored procedure.

If you could raise any change requests on Gemini, such as the url length change and category colours, we can see if we can get them included in the next version. Note that 5.0.3 is already in the release process, so these will have missed the cut off for that version.

Thank you for your quick reply. It sounds like I will have to wait / shorten my URL's as the mere mention of stored procs has me running for the hills.  That said its not such a big thing as I plan to move to 5 with this one soon anyway (where the urls are friendlier)

The 100 limit is in the 5.3 beta too which I have on my test site. I have to say that the way the events module is being developed is great - I really like the beta heads up's and its all much better put together now.

I will log the colour "issue" later today.

Actually, I am quite happy with the events module at the moment as I have just found that I can change the order of the list view data grid cols to suit me by simply moving the controls in the aspx page (which did not work last time I tried).
