Hi,

I know that I can add additional HEAD element tags on a page-by-page basis BUT CAN I DO IT at a place where it is globally available to the entire site?
Example: Let's assume I want to add a JQuery lib plus a JQuery plug-in and want to have it available on every single page?

Note: I am looking for a way to place .js and .css files INTO the HEAD TAG ...and not anywhere else in the page.

Hope my Q is understandable otherwise I can elaborate on it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks

Frank

The default.aspx file would be my guess.

Well, certainly I do NOT want to change code files because that makes it probably more complicated once you must update DNN. If there's a file location which is not touched by upgrades then I am fine with such solution. Otherwise I want to be able to change it some place in the admin section.

Recap: I need a place where I can set .css and .js (<link... and <script...)  tags and may be other meta tags for the entire site.

I think this is not an unusual wish and I hope there is a place in the admin area where it can do that? Otherwise,... that would be certainly a feature which is missing in DNN.

I mean if DNN allows you to set additional page <head> elements on a page-by-page basis then the logical conclusion is that there's something similar for the entire site, right?
If nobody knows the answer... how would you (I am referring to all the DNN specialists) do it then? Changing the code? Doesn't make sense to me within a CMS.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Frank

You could do it with a custom module, but you don't imply that you're wanting to go that direction.

Off the shelf DNN doesn't have a way to do it the way you describe.

I seem to remember a Snowcovered module (or two) that were specifically built to inject stuff into the head - do a search on "injector."

Thanks Wells Doty, and thanks to you, Eric, for clarification and pointing out further ways to reach into and modify the head element. I appreciate it.

May be some developers will think I am off base but I still believe that a CMS should provide a direct and straight forward way to reach the head element of the 'master page' aka template or so.

E.g. a) by implementing it into the theme or... b) in the case of DNN as a field in the SITE page where you can change so many other things for the site.

Just a suggestion.

Regards

Frank
