I first chose DNN in late 2006 because it had the features I wanted. In particular I was drawn to the fact people could register and I could email them. So I chose a host where it would be auto-installed (webhost4life) and I pressed the button.
Hey presto, instant website that had members joining.
I then joined up wiht AWeber .. and 3 years on I've come back to this problem several times without a resolution ... how do I get my DNN members to be added to my AWeber list.
I kept trying, failing to understand and leaving it again.
So, here I am, nearly 3 years on and I have 20,000 DNN members and 0 on AWeber. I did once manage to set up the AWeber form and get it onto my site. The AWeber interface says it's been displayed over 12,000 times but with 0 signups. I've obviously removed that at some stage (as I decided it clearly wasn't working) as I just signed up to my own site and didn't get offered the Aweber sign up at all.
A couple of weeks ago I found a Bulk Emaler (interactivewebs.com.au) - they seemed to have a great email module for DNN that meant I could email people, so I downloaded the trial version, installed it - set it off emailing my 18,100 members (list was de-duped). But it was only sending at 150/hour. After 24 hours it was only at about 3000 emails into the list and I contacted my host to see if there was a limitation. Woke up this morning to check the progress and it had finished sending ... except it had only sent out 3150 emails. It looks like the host stopped it completely. My host say I have to use their mailing list software in my admin panel of the server. Now, I don't see how that will work as I want to include the member's username inside my emails, and there's a huge extra cost to using their Email List if I h ave over 2000 members and want to send more than 10,000 emails/.month.
So I logged back onto Aweber to try to get this sorted - and I have googled. And I can't find a solution.
The Problem Is:
How can I get new signups to my DNN website to automatically be included in my Aweber list?
How can I get existing signups into my Aweber list?
Is there a DNN module available to buy (affordably) that WILL email all users and NOT run into my host problem of 150/hour?
I hope somebody can help, this is driving me nuts.
For the record: I am not a techie, which is a major problem with doing anything with DNN. While I have worked in IT for over 20 years, from helpdesk through to project manager, I am not a Windows Server techie, I am not a programmer, I don't know ASP.NET. I need a solution that just installs and works.
Thank you.
