this in fact doens't sound like the host user abusing admin options...

I assume here that these queries are automated SQL injection attempts. The DotNetNuke core framework and core modules are already well-protected against such SQL injection attacks; there are many such automated attempted against all websites, and though these occurrences are logged, this logging is not itself a risk (nor can it be disabled).

Additionally, disabling the host SQL query feature will not mitigate this risk in any meaningful way (just as reinforcing a door will not reduce the risk of someone breaking a window).
