I recently changed by site to private registration and have determined that the "register" link in the account login module no longer works, it just reloads the page.  I validated that if I change it back to verified the register link takes you to the registration page.   This is the link near "forgot password"  not the one that is part of the skin, that one always works.

This is a big problem since most users will hit that link to register since it is supposed to be a private site......

Which DNN version are you running?

I just tested successfully using my DNN 5.1.0 test installation and I have an active site running successfully with private registration on 4.9.4 (upgrades since DNN 3). Do you "require valid profile for registration" in Admin :: Users >> User Settings? Did you  setup User Profile Properties?

This is a 5.10 installation, sorry I should have mentioned that in the first post.   I looked and , the "require valid profile for registration" is not checked, although"require valid profile for login" is checked.   I tried unchecking it, and it still just reloads the home page.    I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "setup User profile Properties"    I have gone into the manage profile properties and have the fields I want setup, is that what you mean?     Strange think is that if I change to "validated" registration, it works.     I can send you the link via PM if you want to see it, let me know.

Thanks for your help.

Paul

I turned off "Require a valid Profile for Login" and was still able to register. Do you use a special registration module or did specify a dedicated registration page in site settings?

No special registration module, and the site settings for registration page is set to <none-specified>.   Just to make sure in your testing you have the registration mode set to private?    I'm using the standard account login module, and have it placed on the home page.
