firstly, thank you for the opportunity to test and use your events module.

I downloaded 5.0.0  this morning and put it up for testing. I populated it with some events created my categories etc, then decided to go in and add a couple users for them to test it out before making it live. However upon, updating the settings and returning to the test page, all of the CSS was stripped from the calendar. thinking I had simply made a setting change that would do this, I tried to reset everything back to default, no change. To verify I deleted that instance of the module and put it back in the page, the CSS came back. I went back into settings, then canceled out of making changes, the CSS remained. I went back into settings, didn't make any changes but hit update...the CSS goes away.

Next thinking it was a skinning/CSS conflict of some sort I defaulted that pages skin to the default DNN5 skin. The calendar still did not render properly. It's not browser specific, nor does it appear to be skin specific.

Is this the first time this has popped up?

For the record here, the release of the event module that is currently available from the DNN downloads page does NOT have this issue. Same site, same page, different version.

I will continue using this stable release, and I'd be interested to hear if you find a solution for this.

thanks

Hi Michael,

This isn't the first time it has been reported, and is due to an error in DNN 5.0.0 (though I'm confused why you didn't get the same problem in Events 4.0.2 - I'll check over the week-end). I believe this is fixed in DNN 5.0.1. The problem is that the theme directories in ~/DesktopModules/Events/Themes have been wrongly capitalised by the module install, and this causes a problem with the CSS lookup. If you capitalise the first letter of each directory (fixedblue should be FixedBlue), and then re-do your module settings, it should be OK.

Cheers
Roger

I just checked Events 5.0.0 RC3 on DNN 5.0.1 and all seems OK there. I don't have a set-up environment for DNN 5.0.0, so can't test 4.0.2 on it. I would recommend you upgrade to DNN 5.0.1 anyway because 5.0.0 is known to be pretty buggy. I don't think the DNN team accepts 5.0.1 as really production ready yet either.

I am experiencing the exact same problem as the original poster did.  I am using DNN 5.1.1 with the core Event module 5.0.2.

I'm trying to create a custom skin for the core Event module.  I copied the "Default" folder from DesktopModules\Events\Themes\ into in the Portals\test\DNNEvents\Themes.  Then I renamed the folder "MyDefault" and renamed the css file inside it to "MyDefault.css"

In the Event module settings, I set the custom theme to "MyDefault".

Unfortunately, the custom theme does not seem like it's being used.  I end up getting an unformatted, unstyled output. I've cleared the cache and upgraded to 5.0.2, but still no joy.

Am I doing something wrong? Joan
