I have a blog set-up where there is a typical parent blog, but it has two child blogs.  I am speaking of my very own blog website.  The parent blog never gets posted to, but the two children blogs do.  Today, I wanted to finally setup Windows Live Writer, and begin posting from there.  Well, something is wrong.  In the "Select Weblog" step, only my parent blog, and one of my child blogs are listed.

Parent Blog = The Mighty Blog
Child Blog = Personal Edition
Child Blog = Professional Edition (I chose that name before DNN Corp announced PE! :P)

I checked the settings for both, and they are nearly identical.  They have differing blog titles and descriptions.  Just in case, I clicked "Update" for good measure, to ensure that no settings were orphaned from any unknown workflow problems.

Both child blogs have the following settings:

  • Make This Blog Public checked
  • Full Name
  • All comment options checked
  • Trackback option checked
  • Syndicate this blog checked
  • Managing editor email address the same
  • Timezone -500
  • Culture = English
  • Date format = 3/6/2009

Has anyone else had this problem?  Anyone have any fixes?

[EDIT]
I forgot to mention that I am running DNN v4.09.02, and the blog module is obviously 3.05.00.
[/EDIT]

Hi Will,

good catch. Sounds like we'll need to get the UserID from the ParentBlogID rather than from the currently logged in User. In any case we always suggest to make changes to Blog Settings while being logged in as the blog owner himself.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
