Version 04.00.01 is not far away. I have made the following changes in the lab already:

Add accept and user agent for web request
Remove email address constraints
Remove Rfc822formatDate constraints
Add option to not use Ajax rendering in module settings

This fixes the feeds mentioned in the pinned thread at the top of this group. I'm confident most feeds will work after these changes. I will run more tests and then proceed to commence the packing and release process. Please keep in mind that the release process takes time. I hope that all will go quickly, but it is not fully under my own control.

I also found a fix to the 'multiple News modules on a page using Ajax' issue. If any of you would like to confirm the above issues have been dealt with it would speed up the process. The beta of the new version of this module can be found here:

If I have no news (other than good) I will continue towards release Wednesday or Thursday. Please leave a not in this thread if you've tested it.

I have tested.

Sorry to say it works extremly bad.

I got javascript error all the time the first load.

Webpage Script Errors

Message: 'Sys.Webforms.PageRequestManager' is null or not an object
Line: 14
Char: 2
Code: 0
URI: http://xyz/loadlater.js

I get runtime error i some cases

Im not sure how two on same page should bee handled tested both with ajax of and on. Ajax of seems to work a little bit better.

The feeds are loading very very slow compared to the old module.

When the feeds are initialy loaded it works ok.

The date is still in english.

the feed http://www.svd.se/?service=rss&type=latest does not work

I've loaded the Beta version into a v04.06.00 test site, running IIS v5.1, xp pro, asp.nev v2.0, and sql2005.  I've been testing on a variety of feeds (not done testing though), and I've loaded 4 feed modules on the same page, each using slightly different settings.  I've mixed the Ajax setting, 2 on and 2 off, and am using different xsl settings.

To this point, I see improvement in the rendering, including using the news source Jan mentions.  It renders fine, with the exception of a non-localized date format, but that wasn't a 'fix' for this version, the date business requires more localization work, so I don't think that's an issue with this version 'fix'.

I'm not sure why Jan is getting that error, perhaps he could give us some details about his setup and configuration.  One note on installation, I did attempt to 'upgrade' the module by installing the new beta version over an existing version.  This did not function, and got module could not be loaded errors.  So, deleted all News modules on the site, stopped IIS default web site, took the database offline, and deleted the News folder and contents from the /DeskTop Modules folder.  Then, started everything backup.  I installed the module and it came up without issue.

So far, testing is going good.  However, some might want to try the 'upgrade' process themselves on a test site, to see if that works for them.  It did not work for me, although I'll test it again later.  Now, I'm testing the beta version on a variety of different types of news feeds, and will report progress as time permits.
