I have a new customer who's experimenting with Adwords and asked me to insert code into the order completed page to track their conversion rate.  I don't see a way to do that other than editing the PayPalPayment.ascx (Am I right here?) which would affect everyone running the store module.  Is there another way to do this I'm not seeing that wouldn't impact the other sites?

Also, I've had several orders not switch status to paid, but the store administrator did get the email from paypal, is there a place I should be looking for the problem?

Hi Mark,

You'r right, if you modify the PayPalPayment.ascx every portal using the Store module will be impacted by this code. The only solution is to used a seperate DNN instance for this customer.

Concerning the status order, this occurs when PayPal do not callback the web site. When PayPal callback the web site, the ordrer status is changed to "Paid". I have no idea for explain why sometimes PayPal do not callback on payment!?

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.  If you were to theorize about the right way to address this so it could be incorporated into the core, (perhaps by changing this page to use a per-portal template)  what would that be?

This customer is going to be quite active and vocal, so I will probably end up making code changes, but I'd prefer it be done in a way that could be contributed back.

Hi Mark,

I have no idea how this could be done. I'm not using Google marketing tools, may be you are able to track referer with Google webmaster tools? Could you explain your needs in details?

Gilles

Basically, you insert a bit of javascript code in the page the customer sees after they have completed their order to track conversions from your adwords campaigns.  In the current design you can't have a different google_conversion_id for each instance of the store, so I was thinking that it might be possible to make a code change to allow this page to use a per-store template where this could be inserted into the template.

<!-- Google Code for purchase Conversion Page --> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

<!--

var google_conversion_id = XXXXXXXXX;

var google_conversion_language = "en_US"; var google_conversion_format = "1"; var google_conversion_color = "FFCC00"; if (44.0) {

  var google_conversion_value = 44.0;

}

var google_conversion_label = "purchase"; //--> </script> <script language="JavaScript"

src="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion.js">

</script>

<noscript>

lue=44.0&label=purchase&script=0">
