Hi all,

I need to have some informations but I couldn't found anything (Blog, Forum, Gemini).
I want to upgrade my DNN from 4.6.2 up to 4.8.1 now i want to know, what I need for this upgrade.

Someone in this forum told about: Ajax, XHTML or .NET Framework 2.0...
But i couldn't found anything in changelogs or "requirements".
What else do I have to do before upgrading my DNN?
The upgrade themselfe won't be complicated, I think.
Please tell me some requirements for upgrading DNN 4.6.2 up to 4.8.0 or 4.8.1 (differences?)

thanks for any help!
greetings marc

If you are able to run 4.6.2 then there are no differences to requirements between that and 4.8.1; it adds some functionality, fixes some bugs, and makes it have "native" Visual Studio 2008 support (the source version) -- it is still a .NET 2.0 application, however, so you don't need to worry about anything else.  While you *can* update it to work with the .NET 3.5 framework (and there are posts all over about that, just search for them), you don't have to.

Before upgrading, just make sure you have a solid backup of your database and file structure... you never know what could go wrong during the upgrade and it is always safe to have a fallback plan.

FYI -- 4.7+ have an issue where every so often an error will come up about the ScriptManager -- there have been blog posts and threads about this... the most conclusive fix I have found was with Chris Hammonds blog post here: http://www.chrishammond.com/tabid/54/itemid/1094/A-fix-for-DotNetNuke-ScriptManager-Errors-Ajax-is.aspx -- note that this requires you to download the source version and make a few changes
