Hi,

First of all, great job so far on the initial release. I have been working for over 3 years on an e-commerce package. Which runs just fine but became unmanageble.

One of the features that was requested quite often was to have seperate meta tags for each product and/or category, for effective spidering of search engines.

Is this planned or considered?

BR,

Martin.

Martin,

We will be implementing attributes on products. I don't think we thought about using them to impact spidering but I can see how they could be useful. Thanks for the tip.

Hi,

I dont suggest using attributes for spidering. They help, but are ment for a different purpose. Attributes define an eventual SKU, or additions to a product.

Seperate meta tags (Keywords, description) just create the right information for Google and such. If you sell hardware you most likely put a lot of the brand names in your keywords that you sell. So basically in my store I just used

<Meta name="Keywords" Content="<%=Category.Keywords %>">

<Meta name="Description" Content="<%=Category.Description %>">

For which Category was a business object from my BL/DAL. It's really a marketing thing to improve rating in search engines, nothing more, but handy to have.

BR,

Martin

Oh, I see where you're going now. I don't believe that's on the roadmap yet, but we'll consider it.
