hi,

I'm trying to grant permissions to ASP.NET user, but it is not appearing in the "Security" tab of the folder properties.  I've tried to Add it but haven't managed. Could you detail the required steps?

I either haven't managed to create the virtual directory for my web site. "Web Sharing" tab of the folder properties is missing and I get an error while trying to execute "inetmgr" in the Run Command.

I'm running Win XP Pro SP2 and I have just installed .NET framework 2.0.

From the COntrol Panel and Add/Remove programs.  Check your windows components to ensure that IIS has been installed.  ONce you haev that done you should be able to access the IISManager to setup the virtual directory.

For the sharing/security.  Does it not show up at all, or can you not fine the ASPNET account.

thanks a lot Mitchel! It was really helpful!

The "security" tab does show up but not the ASPNET account in the list within it, and I don't know how to add it.

There should be an Add... button under, the list of Usernames, then all it should take is typing aspnet in the box, then click check names, then click okay, then it should show up in the list.
