We need the ability to create input text fields associated with a product during checkout. Will the new 2.0 store allow the creation of attribute/options for products.

Hi,

The next version do not have atttribut or options. What do you want to do exactly?

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Gilles,

Thanks for the response.

Here is our scenario:
The DNN site is for a race car photographer. He sells CDs to the drivers/teams of the pictures he takes. We have created a one product store with the CD. We need to capture the date, track, race series, car number and car type at checkout so the photographer can get the right pictures from his library of 1000s. The ideal scenario would be to make those fields custom textbox attributes of the CD product. Similar to providing a custom attribute like monogramming or engraving where the buyer inputs his initials or name. We are open to a workaround. We don’t want to go buy and setup something like Catalook or ASPDOTNETSTOREFRONT for a one product store.

Thanks,

John...

Hi John,

The product form is not the right place for your scenario! It will be more simple and efficient to add those fields inside the Address table and form. Then at the checkout, your clients will be able to fill those fields.

Try this...

Hop along to Paypal, log in and go to merchant tools. Then go to the Paypal shopping cart section. Have a play with the tools there. Note where you can "Add more options" to the cart button. Try using that for some of your attributes. You get two bits of code, one for the button and one for the cart.

Now, I haven't done that myself, so I don't know if it'll be suitable and I also understand that adding these to a DNN site is not so simple because they are forms. There are some posts around about that, so you might need to do a search. Or alternatively, put it on a static page.

I also want to bring up the issue of attributes in the DNN store and I'll make another post for that now.

Regards,
Rob
