huberus - I'm trying to do the same thing - I want the client to be able to designate a number of different funds that a user could donate to, so the fund would I guess be the product - but there is no shipping, no tax, no anything except a generated invoice to the end user ...

I have started with Catalook Pro and it is a bit overwhelming for what I need. Someday I will use it for a regular store, if I figure it out - but at this point very minimal functionality is what I need.

Could you tell me what I need to do in terms of categories and  products and all in CataLook to do what you did?

We also will not use paypal - going into a merchant account at the bank ...

Thanks -

You might want to check out the TrainCert training videos, specificaly the eCommerce example. The 1st eCommerce video is available for free, but you have to sign up for the remaining videos and the source code. It is a great resource to learn about developing modules for DotNetNuke or just use the eCommerce module right of out of the box. It might meet your requirements as is.

As for alternative payment providers, that is a very different issue. There are over 100 payment processors and they are work slightly differently. There is no standard when it comes to payment processing.

RHuber, did you ever find something smaller then CATAlook that handles direct credit card payments? I have 2 sites doing grassroots fundraising like you mentioned. Customers need to be able to use their credit card with out having a PayPal account... but it's was to wasteful to buy such a huge cart like CATAlook for 1 item!

Thank you,

Jacob

You can use a credit card with Paypal, but it's well hiden because they want you to open an acount. You might explain how to do that step by step on your checkout page.
