Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie. I have looked all over the forum but can find the answer to my question which is, how do I import and export product from the store. We have over 2,500 products on an excel sheet and we do not want to add them in one at a time.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I have installed the newest version of DNN. Thanks again for your time.

Teli

Hi Teli,

You can't import directly your products. In the next version, you will be able to import and export, categories alone or categories and products. But, your file must conform to the structure used. I can send to you an example of xml file format.

Alternatively, you can use DTS (Data Transformation Services is part of Microsoft SQL Server Pro) to import your Excel file, to transform it so that it is in conformity with the table of the products, then to import it.

After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hello Gilles,

First thanks for the information I have been looking all over for this info.

Can you tell me where I can read up on the new features for the new version and

when the new version will be released? If you could please send me

the example of the new xml file format that would be great. From my understanding

the new version will import files in the xml format not directly from the excel sheet?

For such a great program not to have these features is a disappointment. : (

I look forward to your reply thanks for your time.

Sincerley,

Teli

Hi Teli,

The new features are not published for now. We do not know exactly when they will be released, may be 2/3 weeks.

I'm right to send you the file, but your email is not in your profile. I'm not a magician, I can't guess your address!  My email is in my profile, clic on "Ploum" in the left part.

Concerning the import/export, may be you are new with DNN. For your understanding, DNN provide functions to add import/export options in the menu actions (to the left of the module title). But, the developer is responsible to write tthe code! Now, imagine than thousands users have the same need, import their products list. You can be sure that no file will be similar! Coding such a function for all possible cases is a very long and complex task. This is why it is more effective and simple to have only one file format to import data.
