New to DotNetNuke is the services framework, which allows extension developers to easily expose functionality that operates in the context of the core framework. This greatly reduces the complexity of development and increases overall service security. In this session, we introduce the services framework and identify some patterns that most readily allow developers to expose advanced functionality. Next, we explore the security-related features of the services framework – including its authentication and authorization capabilities – and identify the ways in which these might be utilized to increase overall extension security. Finally, we examine the ways in which the services framework might be extended in order to achieve novel ends.
