A couple of weeks ago I had a bit of time on my hands so I decided to create a new open source skin for the Dnn community. The first thing I did was to ask, via social channels what framework people would like to see the skin using.

It was obvious from the reactions I received that the community wanted another Bootstrap skin so I began to create the new skin for the community with Bootstrap and the outcome was the DnnBootster skin!

With DNN8 a new Image Handler was introduced to provide loading/sizing of images of various sizes. In previous releases the ProfilePic.ashx implementation always looked like it was supposed to do allow for this, but never actually allowed you to resize images in a meaningful way.

The handler in DNN8 allows for this, but I was having a problem as I started using this method in the DNNChat module (new release coming in the next few days) but when I installed it on http://dnnchat.com/ the images were failing to load, and then ended up throwing 404 messages. I wasn't quite sure what the cause was, but decided to check the AUM_ settings in the hostsettings table. In my install there I found a setting AUM_DoNotRedirectUrlRegex that had the following value:

The DNN 8 Module Challenge has come to a close and I am happy to say that we had some great modules submitted this year.  Not only did the entries provide great examples of how to build MVC and SPA modules for DNN 8, but we also had entries which pushed the boundaries on using tools and libraries like Bower, Gulp, React, Angular and others.  We had modules submitted by teams and individuals, and we even had a module submitted by a first time developer.

I want to congratulate each of our winners on a job well done.  The voting was close in each category and it was often just one or two details which separated the winners from the other entries.
