Welcome New Contacts Project Lead!

I would like to welcome Tony Valenti as the new Project Lead of the Contacts Project!  Tony is an "old timer" and has been a DotNetNuke advocate since dinosaurs ruled the earth (aka the IBuySpyWorkshop days *grin*).

The old Contacts module is one of those modules with pretty basic functionality and limited flexibility.  Although you'll be hearing more from Tony, I'll cover some of the basic intent of the forward progress this module will make.

• The Contacts module in its current form will probably have no future upgrades.  The reason for this is that any enhancement that could be made to the Contacts module would only be a subset of functionality that already exists elsewhere.  Specifically, we're speaking with Sebastian Leupold of the UDT (User Defined Table) Project about providing an upgrade path FROM the current Contacts module TO an instance of the UDT, specifically formatted for Contacts.
  
• Tony is bringing a module to the Contacts Project which is really more of a Membership Roster.  That is to say that it ties directly into Membership & Roles to display contact information according to a specified Role.  This is functionality that folks have been asking for in contacts for a long time which, however, would be exceptionally difficult to provide an upgrade path for since the current Contacts module has no dependency upon roles or even registration.

So... the Contacts Project has a new lead... but may also be getting  a new name to go with its new functionality!  Thanks Tony for taking charge of the project and the contribution of a helpful module.

Maybe we can get Tony to post a couple of screenshots and solicit some preferences for a new project name?  What do you say, Tony?
